miRNA profiling comparisons between CSC+ and CSC− HCCs, as separated by hepatic CSC biomarkers (EpCAM, CD133, CD90, CD44, and CD24), identified aberrant downregulation of liver-specific miR-192-5p in HCC cells, which correlated with increased CSC populations with stemness features and shorter survival in HCC patients (89). This evidence concerns the gene CD24 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
