They worked on a group of six candidate genes, NPTX2, SARP2, UCHL1, ppENK, CDKN2A, and RASSF1A, and observed differential methylation in the promoters of all the genes in pancreatic cancer and healthy controls except in CDKN2A promoter, which was methylated differentially between pancreatic cancer patients and those having chronic pancreatitis (Park et al., 2012). The gene discussed is CDKN2A; the disease is chronic pancreatitis.
