CRP and atherosclerosis: Two of the 12 papers indicated that both human and murine CRP might be playing an atheroprotective role: human CRP was shown to slow the development of atherosclerosis in the apoB100/100ldlr−/− mice (36), and the lesion size in CRP-deficient mice on apoE−/− or ldlr−/− background was either equivalent or increased compared to that in normal mice (41).
