Indeed, TERT mutations are present in only 11.3% of well-differentiated papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) and 17.1% of follicular thyroid cancer (FTC), but present in 32% of widely invasive Hürthle cell carcinoma (HCC), compared to 5% of minimally invasive HCC, and in 43.2% of poorly differentiated thyroid cancer (PDTC) and 40.1% of anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) (20, 21). The gene discussed is TERT; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
