PITRM1 and Alzheimer disease: We previously demonstrated that a 50% reduction of PITRM1 amount in the hemizygous PITRM1+/− mouse causes slowly progressive, multisystem neurological impairment, with age-dependent accumulation in the brain of both Aβ42 (the key amyloidogenic Aβ species in AD) and APP (Brunetti et al., 2016).
