To screen which cancer cells were affected by HIF-1α or HIF-2α, we measured the protein and mRNA levels of HIF-1α and HIF-2α in H1299, A549 (NSCLC); Hep3B, HepG2 (HCC); HCT116, CT26 (Colon cancer); MCF-7, MDAMB231 (Breast cancer); MKN1, MKN5 (Gastric cancer); U87MG, SHSY5Y (Brain cancer); and SKOV3, SNU840 (Ovary cancer) under normoxic and hypoxic conditions (Figures S1 and S2) and confirmed hydroxyl-HIF-1a levels (Pro564 and Pro402), which is the essential approach of HIF-1α functional assessment (Figure S7). This evidence concerns the gene HIF1A and breast cancer.
