The equal up-regulation of BRCA1 in endothelial, Kupffer, and Ito cells hints at the pivotal role of BRCA1 as being responsible for the TME in the liver metastases, a role of clinical relevance since liver metastases from patients with CRC express the BRCA1 protein in the three types of TME cells depending on the time of onset of the metastases. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and colorectal carcinoma.
