Given previous discrepancies regarding the “anti-EV” effect of P2Y12 antagonists, we conducted a randomized controlled trial to compare the effect of the new and more potent P2Y12 antagonist ticagrelor and clopidogrel on the release of EVs in 60 patients after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in a standardized and investigator-blinded way (NCT02931045) [48]. The gene discussed is P2RY12; the disease is acute myocardial infarction.
