LGI1 and Bilateral tonic-clonic seizure: When lacking in LGI1, there is a reduction in α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA) receptor-mediated synaptic transmission and this has been shown in mice models to lead to a seizure.8 The types of seizures can vary ranging from focal seizure without loss of consciousness to focal seizure with dyscognitive features, generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS), myoclonic seizure but characteristic seizure for LGI1 antibody is faciobrachial dystonic seizures (FBDS) likely due to affection of basal ganglia circuitry.
