Examinations resulting in the diagnosis of NF2 were initialized later upon newly developed symptoms, which were attributed to VS in most cases (n = 16, 64%) with hypacusis as major symptom (n = 12/16), followed by peripheral nerve tumors (n = 4, 16%), stroke (n = 2, 8%), spinal (n = 2), and intracranial non-VS related tumors (n = 1), cataract (n = 1), and neuropathy (n = 1). This evidence concerns the gene NF2 and peripheral nervous system neoplasm.
