Thus, using the HT29 cell model, we first assessed the influence of YAP1 on stemness properties by showing a reduction of two intestinal stem cell markers, LGR5 and PROM1, in cells knocked down for YAP1, which is consistent with the fact that YAP1/TAZ support stem cell properties in the intestine [36,40] and are required for stemness maintenance and colony formation in colorectal cancer cells [60,61]. The gene discussed is YAP1; the disease is colorectal cancer.
