The authors found significantly elevated levels of IL-1β, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in synovial tissue of shoulders with full-thickness rotator cuff tears. Here, PTGS2 is linked to rotator cuff syndrome.
