Suzuki et al. reported that Gd-IgA1 findings were negative in all adult patients with lupus nephritis (n = 7), primary membranous nephropathy (n = 1), and MPGN (n = 1) with IgA deposition7; furthermore, Cassol et al. demonstrated that Gd-IgA1 staining intensity was significantly lower in patients with lupus nephritis compared with patients with IgAN, while Gd-IgA1 findings were completely negative in five of eight patients with lupus nephritis8.
