The production of C-C motif chemokine ligand 2 (CCL-2, also known as monocytechemoattractant protein-1 [MCP-1]), is a potent chemotactic factor for monocytes, and it also increases in response to proinflammatory cytokines during inflammation, and several studies have reported roles for MCP-1/CCL2 in renal diseases. This evidence concerns the gene CCL2 and kidney disorder.
