In CTRL subjects, BMI had a significant impact on TMEM119-ir microglia, because it negatively correlated with the number of ramifications in both the NPY and POMC regions and negatively correlated with the number of somas in the POMC region (Supplemental Figures 11 and 12), again pointing to an association between obesity and microglial activity. This evidence concerns the gene POMC and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
