LMNA and progeroid syndrome: It should be noted that most of the compounds identified so far in preclinical tests to treat Progeria have been focused: (i) in the reduction of progerin quantities, by either reducing its production or increasing its degradation; (ii) in the reduction of progerin toxicity by targeting its aberrant prenylation: or (iii) in the identification of compounds capable of restoring pathological phenotypes downstream of progerin accumulation.
