By regulating the m6A modification of forkhead box O1 (FOXO1) mRNA, METTL14 promotes the translation of FOXO1 mRNA through YTHDF1 recognition, thereby upregulating the expression of the endothelial adhesion molecules VCAM-1 and ICAM-1, which promotes mononuclear-endothelial adhesion, ultimately leading to the development of atherosclerosis. This evidence concerns the gene FOXO1 and atherosclerosis.
