Natural antioxidants such as phenols, flavonoids and tannins play an important role in reducing the oxidative stress by scavenging free radicals and reactive oxygen species thereby preventing the protein, lipid and DNA damage17,18.The autopsies of the brain of PD patients have revealed that oxidative stress is responsible for lipid, proteins and DNA damage along with decreased in the activity of SOD, catalase and glutathione levels19–21. This evidence concerns the gene CAT and Parkinson disease.
