The only other protein significantly upregulated in Alkbh7-/- was heme binding protein 1 (Hebp1), and notably a recent study found both GLO-1 and Hebp1 were upregulated in Alzheimer’s disease (Yagensky et al., 2019), suggesting these proteins may share a common upstream regulator. Here, GLO1 is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
