Intriguingly and relevant for our understanding of the immune reactions that take place during an infection is our finding that continuous exposure to TLR activators does not alter osteoclast differentiation when first primed with M-CSF and RANKL, both when added at the pre-osteoclast stage of 7 days and when added at the osteoclast stage of 14 days. The gene discussed is CSF1; the disease is infection.
