Although Cyclin D3 has not yet been shown to interact with SAMHD1 in CD4 T cells as Cyclin A2 and Cyclin D2 have in other cell models [79, 81], this cyclin has been demonstrated to regulate SAMHD1 and subsequently permissiveness to HIV infection in macrophages [55] and its expression was altered by FTY720 in a model of murine diabetes [82].
