Protein localization and expression were visualized by immunofluorescence, which showed that downregulating RDH5 in Hepatocellular carcinoma could activate the Hippo/YAP signaling pathway and promote the nuclear translocation of the crucial protein YAP in Hep 3B cells (Fig. 5D); the upregulation of RDH5 by plasmid transfection into SK-Hep-1 cells suppressed the protein expression of YAP, which remained in the cytoplasm rather than translocating into the nucleus (Fig. 5B). The gene discussed is RDH5; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
