Their aim was to detect whether pharmacological inhibition of calcium signaling was sufficient to decrease the expression of the anti-apoptotic Mcl-1 protein and, therefore, sensitize ovarian cancer cells to anti-Bcl-xL with antibodies directed towards the overexpressed anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-xL, which is generally associated with poor prognosis.
