Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most prevalent age-related, progressive, and irreversible neurodegenerative disorder, characterized by memory dysfunction and cognitive impairment that are thought to result from the formation in the brain both of senile plaques containing amyloid-β (Aβ), as well as neurofibrillary tangles containing the microtubule-associated protein tau [36].
