MAPT and Alzheimer disease: Our data presented here demonstrates: 1) p53 forms oligomers and fibrils in AD, 2) DNA damage repair pathways regulated by p53 are impaired in AD, 3) WT p53 and tauO interact in AD and in vitro using exogenous oligomer treatments providing evidence for cross-seeding, 4) p53O can be observed in tau transgenic mouse models, creating future opportunities for in vivo mechanistic studies.
