Notably, the ratio of Stag2 transcripts to Stag1 transcripts in wild-type mESCs is 1.08, which is lower than most of the ~ 1000 cell lines in the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia [37], indicating that other cell types operate with a relatively higher level of cohesin-STAG2 than cohesin-STAG1 (Additional file 2: Figure S3D).
