As in many other cancers, HCC progression is characterized by EMT with loss of epithelial markers (e.g., E-cadherin, ZO-1, Cytokeratin) and gain of mesenchymal markers (e.g., Vimentin, TWIST1, ZEB1, CD44, SNAI1, SNAI2)38. Here, TWIST1 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
