Intraperitoneal infection with 1 × 108 pfu WSN caused an increase in the level of the proinflammatory cytokine IL-6 in the peritoneum, blood, spleen, pancreas, ovaries, and uterus after 24 h (Figure 6A); however, the levels of other proinflammatory cytokines such as IFN-γ and TNF-α were not increased in the abdominal tissues after the infection.
