RYR1 and Cognitive impairment: We hypothesized that: (i) aging is associated with a progressive increase in resting intracellular Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]r) and Na+ ([Na+]r); and (ii) pharmacological modification of either the ER-RyR1 leak or the Ca2+ influx mediated by TRPCs channels will reduce resting [Ca2+]r and [Na+]r and revert aging-related cognitive deficits.
