The analysis of in vitro expanded DN T cells from healthy individuals has shown that these cells are cytotoxic against non-small-cell lung cancer cell lines, in vitro and in vivo in xenograft models, and express innate receptors such as NKG2D and DNAM-1, which can be up-regulated by IL-15, that are involved in the lysis of target cells [44]. The gene discussed is CD226; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
