Using both discovery and validation patient cohorts, Jiang L et al. reported that SRSF1 DNA copy number gain and mRNA over-expression were strongly associated with poor survival, and they further demonstrated that SRSF1 is important for tumorigenesis of SCLC (small cell lung cancer) and may play a key role in DNA repair and chemo-sensitivity both in vitro and in vivo. The gene discussed is SRSF1; the disease is small cell lung carcinoma.
