Ang-(1–7) is known to have an anti-obesity effect: 1) transgenic rats with high Ang-(1–7) levels are leaner and did not develop diet-induced obesity [57], 2) in mice, Ang-(1–7) given orally lowers body weight and fat mass [58,59], 3) in Mas-deficient mice, dyslipidemia, abdominal fat mass was increased, with glucose intolerance and reduced insulin sensitivity [45]. This evidence concerns the gene MAS1 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
