Clearly, their conclusion that JMJD2D cooperates with p53 to induce the expression of cell cycle inhibitor p21 cannot support the oncogenic role of JMJD2D in cancer, whereas the conclusion of our current study that JMJD2D antagonizes p53 to inhibit p21 expression can support the oncogenic role of JMJD2D in cancer.
