This conclusion is underscored by the fact that Caspase1/11−/− mice but not Nlrp1−/−, Nlrp3−/− and Nlrp1±/−Nlrp3±/− mice all maintained significant levels of IFN-γ+ NK cells after 24 h infection with T. gondii. Furthermore, we show that inflammasome activation occurred in CD8α+ DCs, inflammatory monocytes and neutrophils, cell types that have also been implicated in IL-12 secretion in response to T. gondii2.
