LGALS12 and atherosclerosis: In a previous study, we found that the ablation of galectin-12 decreased the secretion of MCP-1, TNF-α, and IL-6 in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)—and saturated fatty-acid-stimulated macrophages [7,8], suggesting that galectin-12 may potentially play a role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.
