Since sarcoidosis patients can be reactive to some mycobacterial proteins (ESAT-6, KatG, Ag85A, SodA, or HSP) [74] and that mycobacteria antigens were detected in sarcoidosis patient granulomas [75,76,77,78], models were generated using mycobacterial peptides to study granuloma development in mouse lungs.
