Okra polysaccharide (consisting of mannose, rhamnose, glucose, galactose, and Arabia sugar) inhibited shrinkage of nuclei, neuron rarefaction in the CA1 region of the hippocampus, and increased the downregulated PI3K, Akt, and pERK1/2 in the hippocampus of obese Alzheimer’s disease (AD) mice [42]. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
