Further analysis of the underlying molecular mechanisms of its anticancer effect demonstrated that compound 9 exhibits a growth inhibitory effect against AGS gastric cancer cells by inducing G2/M cell cycle arrest, reactive oxygen species (ROS)- and caspase-mediated apoptosis, and autophagy by downregulating the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway [15]. This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and gastric cancer.
