TNFSF10 and cancer: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), also called mesenchymal stromal cells, are a promising cell type for regenerative medicine and comprise ∼38% of registered cell therapy clinical trials.1 MSCs are also attractive anti-cancer delivery vehicles as they can be readily isolated and expanded from multiple sources; can be genetically manipulated2ex vivo to express anti-cancer agents such as TRAIL (tumour necrosis factor-related apoptosis induced ligand);3,4 and show evidence of tumour tropism for targeted delivery of an anti-cancer payload.5–7
