In line with what was shown in breast cancer, in which metformin and everolimus have synergistic anticancer effects [38], this study demonstrated that the combination therapy is more effective than the single monotherapies on the inhibition of pancreatic NET cell proliferation, and in counteracting the formation of colonies and inhibiting mTOR phosphorylation in both pancreatic and pulmonary NET cells. This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor.
