Gokhale et al. discovered new signaling pathways affected by m6A modification after HCV infection, and reported that the infection alters m6A modification of cellular mRNA (80); for example, increased m6A levels of ROI kinase 3 (RIOK3) promotes its translation while decreased m6A levels of cold inducible RNA binding protein (CIRBP) promotes its alternative splicing (80).
