In our previous studies of DNAJC27 in the context of obesity and T2D (33, 34), we demonstrated a positive association between DNAJC27 and the common obesity biomarkers leptin and resistin, and also that DNAJC27 levels were elevated in PBMCs, plasma, and adipose tissue from individuals with obesity and T2D. This evidence concerns the gene RETN and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
