Treatment of B cells from human ALL with Matrine could induce ROS generation and mitochondrial swelling, and cause a decline in mitochondrial membrane potential, thereby inducing apoptosis by upregulation of the proapoptotic protein Bax and downregulation of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 (Aghvami et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene BAX and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
