Some of the most common genes were TP53, KRAS, HRAS, PIK3CA, ATRX, EGFR, and NF1. The number of significant genes in each tumor type was correlated with the size of the cohort (Fig. 2b, Spearman’s correlation coefficient r = 0.67, p-value = 0.02), consistently with the results of the computational benchmarking.
