Results from traditional meta-analyses show that the GG genotype of rs231775, which is associated to lower CTLA-4 expression and hence to a higher T cell activation and proliferation, may confer susceptibility to development of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis50, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis51 and myasthenia gravis52. This evidence concerns the gene CTLA4 and autoimmune disease.
