Based on these evidences, we hypothesize that, in addition to directly scavenging ROS, overexpression of DHCR24 may attenuate increased ROS levels and improve the insulin sensitivity in insulin resistance models of T2D by downregulating the expression of NF-κB and upregulating the expression of Nrf2. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
