In another retrospective study of 174 patients in Wuhan, that looked at diabetes as a risk factor in progression and prognosis of COVID-19, it was seen that levels of inflammatory markers such as CRP, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), d-dimer, and interleukin-6 (IL-6) were significantly higher in diabetics compared to nondiabetic patients [15]. Here, IL6 is linked to COVID-19.
