Future work will evaluate the relationship between phosphate dysregulation in preeclampsia, diabetes, maternal age, and number of pregnancies through the analysis of the tissue-specific and cell-specific nature of calcified lesions; expression of placental phosphate transporter expression levels (Slc20a1 and Slc20a2) and osteochondrogenic factors; maternal urinary calcium and phosphate excretion; and maternal age. Here, SLC20A1 is linked to preeclampsia.
