ABCA1 and tularemia: Figure 4 is a time trend plot that probes the plasma abundance of DA lipid 16:1CE versus transcript of ABCA1, a protein target responsible for cholesterol export. The abundance of 16:1CE decreased on day 2 post-vaccination. In addition, the ABCA1 gene encoding for the primary protein responsible for cholesterol efflux from macrophages and vascular tissue to circulating high-density lipoprotein showed a significant decrease at all post-vaccination days except day 2, demonstrating that cholesterol homeostasis mechanisms may also be affected by tularemia vaccination.
