The 270 regulators that had a FDR of less than 2% in at least 3 data sets were considered to be “intrinsic SSc regulators” and included activator proteins: CCAAT/enhancer-binding proteins; members of the E2F family, ETS family, STAT family, and GATA family; glucocorticoid receptors; interferon regulatory factors; RUNX1-related core binding factors; B cell– and T cell–related TFs; and numerous miRNAs (Supplemental Table 1; supplemental material available online with this article; https://doi.org/10.1172/jci.insight.137567DS1). The gene discussed is SOAT1; the disease is systemic sclerosis.
